Running a successful project requires a lot of planning and communication on behalf of an individual. In the professional world this individual is referred to as a project manager and, a lot of times, holds a certification. The project manager’s sole job is to complete a project while keeping the planned cost, time and scope within their boundaries. How do they do this?
Project managers follow a framework developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The framework consists of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing the project. Project managers focus on numerous different project aspects like integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, and procurement. Project managers will tailor the framework to fit the needs of the project.
Projects are seen in many industries such as construction, information technology, and aviation. Project managers are often involved in large projects that involve hundreds of people and some of those people could live in different countries.
